The annual crime statistics for Clark County are collated by the Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS). The OCJS’s latest crime data for Clark County is for the year 2017. In that year, the county recorded 393 violent crimes and 4,872 property crimes.
A breakdown of the crime statistics in 2017 shows that the county recorded 9 murders, 32 rapes, 180 robberies, 172 aggravated assaults, 1,268 burglaries, 3,274 larcenies, and 330 motor vehicle thefts. The most recent five-year crime trend for Clark County indicates that murder (50%) and motor vehicle theft (16.6%) rates went up in 2017 compared to 2013. In the same period, the rates of rape (42.9%), robbery (18.2%), aggravated assault (11.3%), burglary (25.2%), and larceny (18.4%) dropped.
Criminal Records
Clark County criminal history records are maintained by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) of the Ohio Attorney General’s office. It charges $22 for each criminal history record check and requires a valid photo ID to process the request. Requesters can order checks at the nearest WebCheck location in the county. Clark County divorce records are available at the Domestic Relations Division of the Court of Common Pleas. Clark County marriage records from 1818 to the present are maintained by the county’s Probate Court. Certified copies of marriage records before 1991 cost $5 for the first copy and $2 for additional copies while certified copies of marriage records after 1991 cost $2 each. Visit the Probate Court at the address provided above to make a request. The public can view available Clark County marriage records from 1992 to date on the Probate Court website.
The Bureau of Vital Statistics of the Ohio Department of Health maintains Clark County birth records from December 20, 1908, and death records from 1964 to the present. A certified copy of a birth or death record costs $21.50 and can be requested online, by mail, or in person. Making a request online is the fastest way to get these records. Online orders are completed within five business days and require a credit card for the payment of fees.

How to Look Up Clark County Property Records
The office of the Clark County Auditor provides online access to property records through its property search application. Users may access an online map of properties within the county and conduct searches on properties registered within the county. Interested persons may conduct either a basic search, an advanced search, or a comparison of sales. A basic search may be conducted by providing the parcel number, address, and owner name. To conduct an advanced search other information that may be provided include: the school district, township, Neighbourhood, land use, class, sale date, Sale price, seller, buyer, bedrooms, bathrooms year built, stories, or acres.
