Crime Numbers

The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services provides annual crime statistics in all counties of the state. In 2017 Tuscarawas County recorded 57 violent crimes, 690 property crimes, 2 murders, 14 rapes, 9 robberies, 32 aggravated assaults, 138 burglaries, 507 larcenies, 45 motor vehicles thefts, and 3 arsons. Compared to the crime statistics of 2013, the county recorded an increase in violent crimes (16%), murder (100%), rape (40%), robbery (50%), motor vehicle theft (5%), and arson (50%). However, there was a decrease in aggravated assaults (3%), burglary (36%), larceny (31%), and property crimes (30%).

How to Find Tuscarawas County Criminal Records

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) maintains the Computerized Criminal History Records service. This service allows individuals to request their personal criminal history checks. It's also available to public and private employers for employment purposes. It is possible to request for a criminal history record check online (a third party company) or through a card scan.

For a card scan, submit a complete set of the fingerprints of the person whose records are requested. The BCI requires a signed consent of the person (whether personal request or for employment purpose). Requesters are required to provide a valid photo ID when submitting the fingerprints to the BCI. The BCI charges $22 for each criminal history record check. The fee should be payable as a business check, money order, or electronic payment to the "Treasurer of State of Ohio." The Civil Office of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff Office provides incident reports and accident reports to members of the public. These public records are available for inspection at the Sheriff's Office from Monday to Friday (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The Sheriff's Office charges requesters the actual cost of making copies of the records.

The first 20 pages of records that are being inspected at the Sheriff's Office are free. Any other page costs $0.05 per page. Personal copies of records cost $0.05 per page. How to Find Tuscarawas County Sex Offender Information

The Ohio Attorney General's Office maintains a statewide electronic Sex Offenders Registration Network (eSORN) registry. It contains the names of registered sex offenders and victim offenders from all the counties of the state. This registry is available to members of the general public. The Tuscarawas County Clerk of Courts Office maintains all court records in the county. It is possible to request a court record by mail, email, phone, and in person.
