Crime Numbers
The Office of Criminal Justice Services, Ohio publishes annual crime statistics for all the counties in the state. Its latest reports are for 2017. In that year, Trumbull County recorded 13 murders, 65 rapes, 134 robberies, and 200 aggravated assaults. Reported incidences of property crimes include 944 burglaries, 2,562 larcenies, and 222 motor vehicle thefts.
Compared with the 2013 crime data for the county, these figures indicate that aggregate crime numbers dropped by 33% in 2017. Reported cases of murder increased by 85.7% and rape rate also increased by 20.4% in the five-year period. The five-year crime trend for the county also indicates fewer robberies (28.3%), aggravated assaults (9.9%), burglaries (49.6%), motor vehicle thefts (18.1%), larceny-thefts (28.1%), and arsons (33.3%).

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office processes requests for state and national background checks on behalf of Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the FBI respectively.
