The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services provides annual crime statistics in all counties of the state. In 2017, Muskingum County recorded 163 violent crimes, 2129 property crimes, 58 rapes, 31 Robbery, 74 aggravated assault, 448 Burglary, 1561 larceny, 120 motor vehicle theft, and 20 arsons. Compared to the crime statistics of 2013, the county recorded an increase in property crime (2%), rape (23%), aggravated assault (9%), motor vehicle theft (22%), arson (11%). However, there was a decrease in murder (200%), robbery (33), burglary (24%), and larceny (26%). The number of violent crimes remained the same.
How to Find Muskingum County Criminal Records
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) maintains the Computerized Criminal History Records service, which allows individuals to request criminal history record checks online, through livescan, or card scan.
To request for a criminal history record check through card scan, submit a complete set of the fingerprints of the person whose records are requested. The request must be attached with the signed consent of the person (whether personal request or for employment purpose). The requester must also present a valid photo ID.
The BCI charges $22 for each criminal history record check. Acceptable payment options are credit/debit cards, business check, or money order, payable to the "Treasurer of State of Ohio." The request should be submitted to any of these BCI locations:

How do I Visit an Inmate in Muskingum County Jail?
Muskingum County Jail operates two types of visitations: Onsite and Offsite. The onsite visitation is carried out by using a video terminal available in the lobby of the Muskingum County Jail. An account will first be created online, after which a visit is scheduled at no cost. Visitors can also schedule visits through “The Visitor” visitation system. This affords professionals, friends, and family the control to both schedule and conduct visits at their convenience. The Muskingum County Sheriff Office maintains the Muskingum County Jail.
How to Find Inmate Information
The Muskingum Sheriff’s Office maintains an inmate registry that contains the names, age, gender, and booking date of inmates. This registry, which is always updated every day, can only be accessed with a device that has a pdf reader application.
On the other hand, the offsite visitation involves calling the inmate from the visitor’s computer or android device. This service costs $7.50.
