Crime Numbers

The Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) of the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) collects and maintains crime statistics for all counties in the state. In OCJC's most recent crime reports, Clermont County recorded 265 violent crimes and 3,570 property crimes in 2017. Compared to 2013 crime numbers, these figures represent a 41% increase in violent crime rate and a 32.7% dip in property crime rate.

A breakdown of the crime figures for 2017 shows that the county recorded no murder, 90 rapes, 20 robberies, 155 aggravated assaults, 695 burglaries, 2,728 larcenies, and 147 motor vehicle thefts. The most recent five-year crime trend for the county indicates that rape (210.3%, partly due to expanding the definition of the crime in the intervening years), aggravated assault (30.3%), and motor vehicle theft (77.1%) rates went up between 2013 and 2017. On the other hand, in the same period, there was no recorded murder in Clermont County while robbery (47.4%), burglary (40.4%), and larceny (32.8%) rates fell.
